Edward Kirathe - ACORN Group CEO.
Edward Kirathe has been the Chief Executive Officer of Acorn Group Ltd since its inception in 2006 and was the Managing Director of the company's precursor, Consolsia Ltd, from 2001 -2006. A project manager by profession, he has over thirteen years of experience in the construction industry. Edward has previously worked as an architect at Triad Architects for five years and holds a Bachelor of Architecture Degree (honors) from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
He is registered with the Association for Project Management based in the UK, the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors in Kenya, and is a member of the Architectural Association of Kenya.
|Ken Luusa - MD - Acorn Properties Limited|
Ken graduated from the University of Aberdeen, (Scotland) with a Bachelors Degree in Land Economics in 1990. He joined a leading International firm of Chartered Surveyors and worked in the property management department of the firm's Aberdeen Office where he was responsible for the firm's client portfolio in the North East of Scotland. Prior to joining Acorn Group, he was the Regional Chief Executive Officer of Property Development and Management Ltd (PDM), an Aga Khan Development Network Company where he was responsible for managing and developing the organization's commercial property portfolio in East Africa.
Apart from extensive management experience gained in practicing in the three East African countries and Europe for the past 24 years, Ken is a seasoned professional and Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, The Institution of Surveyors in Kenya and Uganda, a practicing and registered Valuation Surveyor in Uganda and a registered Estate Agent in Kenya.
|Peter Njenga - Group Finance Director|
Peter is the group's Chief Financial Strategist in planning and resource allocation. He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya a qualification he earned at Strathmore University in 1998. Thereafter he worked as a Tax/Management consultant in a leading audit firm for four years. He has over ten years experience in senior level management in large commercial enterprises where he has assisted businesses develop and implement appropriate strategies to achieve Financial, Tax and Operational efficiency.
Before joining Acorn he was the General Manager (Finance & Administration) at BCF a leading exporter of fresh produce to the European Union.
Mucai Kunyiha - Director
Mucai attended Alliance High School and the University of Wales, Cardiff where he graduated with an LL.B (Hons) in 1995. Thereafter he qualified as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. In 2001 he acquired an MBA from Ashridge (UK).
His interest in business surpassed that of law and he immediately joined the family businesses that included wholesaling of detergents, a commercial cleaning business and a travel agency. Thereafter he joined another family interest, Cooper Kenya Ltd in 1999 in the operations department. He was appointed general manager in November 2001 and Managing Director a year later. Since then, Mucai has led the business in separating and growing its real estate and animal health businesses in the East African region. He is married and a father of two sons aged 10 and 7. His interests include exploring faith, leadership, world affairs & politics, sports and dogs.
Anthony Mwaniki - Director
Antony has extensive experience in project management and business. As a project manager he has been involved in the construction of commercial buildings, residential developments and large infrastructural projects primarily in the power sector. He has been involved in the running of business in diverse sectors including real estate, hotels and technology.
Antony sits on boards of several companies which include Acorn Group, Alliance Capital Partners and Mavuno Properties Ltd. He holds degrees in Engineering, Construction Management and Business.
Antony is currently Head of Operations at Mavuno Church, a fast growing non denominational church with 3 campuses in Nairobi.
Kigen Kandie - Director
Kigen is a co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Mobile Planet Ltd., East Africa's first Wireless Application Service Provider.Prior to joining Mobile Planet, Kigen was the founder and Managing Director of SafiTel Communications Ltd., a telecommunications company that was licensed to deploy telecommunications services in rural areas in Kenya.
Kigen has a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also holds Masters' degrees from the University of Washington, Seattle in Electrical Engineering; Tokyo Metropolitan Institute Technology in Systems Control, Production and Operations; and Stanford University in Engineering-Economic Systems & Operations Research.
David Kinyua - Director
David Kinyua has a functional career background in Investment Advisory. This is within 14 year career initially starting off as an Accounts Trainee with Umgeni water, South Africa. He was then recruited as an International Management Trainee with Citibank Investments in Zurich, and then seconded to Citibank Investments London as a Product Analyst, preceding a role with Citibank Kenya as a Relationship Manager.
Kinyua then joined Stanbic Investment Management Services (Eastern Africa) as an Investment Manager rising to his most recent position of Regional Managing Director providing investment advisory services to both public and private institutions, a role he held for 5 years.
Kinyua now has active entrepreneurial interest in the energy and property sectors and is currently an Executive Director for Africa with Encomm a Hong Kong based Energy Generation Company. He also serves in various institutional boards in the region, mainly in infrastructure, and private equity and not for profit sectors.
Mrs. Caroline Kariuki - Director
Mrs. Caroline Kariuki is the Managing Director of the Mortagage Company the first mortgage brokerage company in East Africa. She was previously a Director, Mortgage Division of KCB Group's Mortgage subsidiary.
She has over 18 years working experience in the banking sector with specialization in the Corporate and Mortagage finance having worked in KCB the region's largest local bank, Commercial Bank of Africa and ABN AMRO Bank.
She holds an MBA from Warwick Business School, UK and a bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. She was awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship and has been nominated in 2010 as one of the top women in Finance in Kenya.
Robert Ndung'u - Company Secretary
Robert is the founding partner of Cosec Associates, a firm of Certified Public Secretaries. He graduated from the University of Nairobi 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons), qualified as a Certified Public Secretary in 2002 and was admitted as a member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries in the same year.
Robert has worked at Deloitte& Touche (Livingstone Registrars) from 1994 until 2004 when he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers (Chunga Associates). He left Chunga in 2008 to pursue his career at Cosec Associates. Robert has vast experience in providing Corporate Secretarial services to both private and public companies. He has also attended various courses organized by the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries and the Capital Markets Authority.
